Tennis team defeated Vermillion in home dual

The Lennox High School boys’ tennis team hosted Vermillion on Thursday, April 16. The varsity started off with doubles where the team played some smart and consistent points to take the win at all three flights, taking a 3-0 lead into singles.  

The Orioles kept the momentum going and scored wins from Eli Plank at flight #1, Chase Lundquist at flight #4 and Riley Nelson at flight #6.  This gave the team a 6-3 dual win and improved their record to 2-0 on the season.    

In JV action, the Orioles edged Vermillion in doubles with a score of 5-4.  Doubles wins were earned by the duos of Easton Timmermans and Grant Buhta, Carter Beringer and Grant Veurink, Sawyer Johnson and Carter Beringer, Zach Boysen and Kelton Smith and Zach Boysen and Elliott Hoogastraat. Singles wins were earned by Buhta, Beringer, Matt Dummer, Veurink, Kodi Scott, Boysen, Chase Gervais and Chase Hazuka. This gave Vermillion a 10-8 edge in singles, which in the end, gave the Tanagers a 13-14 victory in JV action. 

The LHS varsity team will take on Milbank at 11 a.m. in Lennox on Thursday, April 23. The team will then travel to Brandon Valley on April 27 and then to Vermillion on April 28.
