Tennis team competes at State next week

On Tuesday, Sept. 19 the varsity team traveled to Milbank to take on the Bulldogs and Aberdeen Roncalli.

The Bulldog match started with doubles where the team competed hard and took a few matches into a match tie-breaker, but weren’t able to pull out a win in the end.

Then the match went into singles play where Lennox once again had some close matches, but the only wins were only scored by Grace Dressen 10-2 at flight #2 and by Brooklyn Glenn 8-4 at flight #7. In the end, the Orioles dropped the match 1-8.

Next up the team took on Aberdeen Roncalli.

“The match started with doubles play, where again, we competed hard and had some close matches, but in the end we weren’t able to pull out a doubles win,” said LHS head coach Kevin Plank.

The team then went into singles play. Wins were scored by Madison Buehner 10-3 at flight #1, and Kathryn Loewe battled hard to score a win 10-5 at flight #6. The team dropped the match 2-7 to the Cavaliers.

Next up, the team travels to Tomar Park for the DAK XII invite on Tuesday, Sept. 26 and then travels to Madison to take on the Bulldogs in their last match of the season.

The Orioles will compete at the State Tournament Oct. 2 and 3 at Tomar Park in Sioux Falls.
