State Bound - Orioles punch ticket to first ever sanctioned State A Tourney


On Tuesday, May 23 the Lennox High School softball team punched their ticket to the State A Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Winner. Lennox scored one run in the opening inning, another in the third and one more to clinch the victory in the top of the fifth.

Alicen Oltmanns was strong on the mound, surrendering just one run on nine hits over seven innings. She struck out six and walked zero

Makinleigh Wallenstein, Oltmanns, Ahleeya Nicola, and Macy Wallenstein each collected multiple hits for the Orioles.

In the win, Lennox stole seven bases with Makinleigh Wallenstein leading the way with four.

The Orioles now find themselves headed to Aberdeen to compete in the first ever sanctioned State A softball tournament. All games will be played at the Players Softball Complex.

The Orioles enter State as the eighth seed and are set to face off against Dell Rapids on June 1 at 10 a.m. The Orioles bring a 5-7 record with them into the State Tournament. Dells, the top seed, comes in with an 11-1 record.

The winner will advance to face the winner of the Madison/Tea Area game (played at 12:30 p.m. on June 1) on June 2 at 3 p.m.

The State Championship game will be played June 3 at 5:30 p.m. Teams advancing included #1 Dell Rapids, #2 West Central, #3 Dakota Valley, #4 Madison, #5 Tea Area, #6 Elk Point Jefferson, #7 Beresford, and #8 Lennox.
