The Lennox High School girls’ tennis team participated in the Madison Invite on Aug. 11 and 12, facing off against nine other class A teams.
The event kicked off with singles matches on Friday, where each player battled it out in their respective flights. Madison Buehner clinched a commendable 6th place finish in flight #1 with a 2-2 record. Brooke Buehner and Kathryn Loewe secured 7th place finishes in flights #3 and #6, respectively, after impressive performances going 1-2.
On Saturday, the team shifted their focus to doubles matches.
Madison Buehner and Brooke Buehner partnered in flight #1, Grace Dressen and Macy Wallenstein paired up in flight #2, and Loewe and Miriam Welch secured a sixth place finish with a 1-2 record in flight #3.
In their subsequent match on August 21st, the Lennox girls’ tennis team faced Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Brandon Valley at Kuehn Park in Sioux Falls.
Lennox demonstrated their dominance against Roosevelt, sweeping doubles matches in flights #1-#3 with the formidable pairings of Buehner/Buehner, Dressen/Wallenstein, and Welch/Loewe. Additionally, they secured victories in all seven singles matches across flights #1-#7, showcasing the talents of M. Buehner, Dressen, B. Buehner, Wallenstein, Welch, Loewe, and Brooklyn Glenn. The comprehensive doubles and singles sweep led to an impressive 9-0 win over the Rough Riders.
Lennox faced off against a strong Brandon Valley team.
“Even though the O’s weren’t able to pull out any wins in singles or doubles, I felt we competed hard and played some good matches,” said LHS head coach Kevin Plank.
The upcoming match-ups for the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will be on Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. when they head to Tomar Park in Sioux Falls to take on Sioux Falls Christian.
