LHS tennis team hosts Rapid City
The Lennox High School girl’s tennis team went eleven days without any competition until they hosted the Rapid City Lady Comets in Lennox on Sept. 18 for a varsity match up. The dual started with doubles where Brooke Buehner and Karlie Bosma at Flight #1 dropped their match 0-6, 4-6, Maliyah Hofer and Nora Asturiza at Flight #2 dropped their match 0-6, 0-6, and at Flight #3 Peyton Herlyn and Kenzie Bosma were up in both sets and had their chances, but dropped the match 4-6, 3-6.
In singles the Comets scored wins at Flight #1 against Buehner, Flight #2 against Asturiza, Flight #4 against Herlyn, Flight #4 against Hofer and against Gracie Wood at flight #6.
Karlie Bosma at Flight #3 did come away with a win for the Orioles. She won a close and competitive first set 6-4, and was down in the second set 1-5 and fought her way back to win the second set 7-5 to secure the singles win.
In the end, the Comets came away with the 8-1 team win.
Next up, the Orioles were scheduled to travel to Milbank on Sept. 22 to play the Bulldogs and Aberdeen Roncalli and then travel to Madison on Oct. 1 to wrap up their regular season.
