On Monday April 24 the Lennox High School tennis team traveled to Brandon Valley to take on the Lynx and Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Singles wins were earned by Jaxon Plank and Eli Plank at flights #1 and #5 respectively, and doubles wins were earned by J. Plank and Cody Plank and Gunnar Geiken and Noah Welch at flights #1 and #3 respectively.
“Overall, the team competed in all aspects and we had our chances to win the match, but fell just short losing 4-5,” said LHS head coach Kevin Plank.
After competing with Brandon Valley, the team then took on the Rough Riders where they earned the team win 8-1 with wins in singles by J. Plank, C. Plank, Andrew Daugherty, Geiken and E. Plank. In Doubles, wins were earned at flight #1 from J. Plank and C. Plank, flight #2 from Daugherty and E. Plank and at flight #3 from Geiken and Noah Welch.
Junior Varsity wins were also earned from Pierce Temme and Mitch Van Meeteren in singles and doubles.
On Tuesday, April 25 the varsity and junior varsity teams traveled down to Yankton to take on the Bucs and the Tanagers of Vermillion.
“The varsity team again played some really strong doubles and singles and had a few matches that could have gone either way, but ended up losing 4-5,” said Coach Plank.
Singles wins were scored by J. Plank, Daugherty and E. Plank, and doubles win by J. Plank and C. Plank.
The team then took on Vermillion and earned wins at all six singles and all three doubles spots to secure the team win 9-0.
The Junior Varsity team also took on the Bucs and the Tanagers in Yankton.
Against Yankton the JV team dropped the dual, but singles wins were earned by Ethan Lundquist, Camden Faulds and Will Hoppe. In doubles wins were earned by Atticus Larson and Connor Sherard, Scout Nelson and Easton Timmermans.
Against Vermillion the JV won 19 to 5 by scoring singles wins from E. Lundquist, Faulds and Hoppe. In doubles, wins were recorded by Lundquist and Cian Smith, Faulds and Hoppe, Larson and Sherard, Brennan Juffer and Chase Lundquist, Cam Smith and Wyatt Holland, Cameron Keatley and Maverick Horst, Owen Boomgarden and Palmer Brue, Nelson and Timmermans, Chase Gervais and Jacob McMath, Davin Cwach and Carter Beringer, Grant Buhta and Matthew Dummer, Brue and Horst, Boomgarden and Keatley, Cwach and Buhta and Beringer and Juffer.
The LHS varsity team travels to Pierre to play three team duals on Thursday, May 4. They will then compete in the Pierre Invite on Friday, May 5.
