Last week an unlikely visitor made an appearance near Lennox, South Dakota. The young moose, pictured at left, was photographed in a field about one mile east and one mile north of Lennox.
The large animal was spotted by several others in and around the area. While South Dakota isn’t home to many moose, the Game Fish and Park Department reports that it’s not uncommon for moose to come from North Dakota and Minnesota.
When the GFP office hears about a sighting, officers ask for a picture or location, then the animal is put in a database map. With the map, the department is able not only to track the animals, but to notify other departments.
