The Lennox High School wrestling team got their season underway this past weekend, competing in the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rider Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 2.Â
Lennox’s Rasmey Williams, wrestling at 144 pounds, captured first place honors in the event. Williams began the Invite with a win by forfeit over Jonah Crow of O’Gorman. He then won by fall in 1:01 over West Central’s Kadyn Sauers in the quarterfinal. In semifinal action, Williams won by fall in 5:07 over Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Eliot Ellenbecker to reach the Championship match. In the Championship match, Williams won by fall in 4:39 over West Central’s Jesse Jost to capture first place honors.Â
Lennox’s Jocelyn Thoms, wrestling at 132 for the girls’, also captured first place honors. Thoms won by decision, 4-2, over Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Rachel Dagel in the opening round. In round two, she won by decision, 3-2 over Lennox’s Jaelyn Fergen. In the Championship round, she won by fall in 2:48 over Olivia Kolbrek of Sioux Falls Washington to claim first place.Â
Other LHS wrestlers finding the podium were:Â Jack Aasheim and Jaelyn Fergen who each captured fourth; George Scott and Grant Larson, who each captured fifth, and Rylan Langebehn and Cade Aasheim who each captured sixth.Â
