Weather cooperates for Rich Luther Relays

Sunny skies led to a full track meet on Thursday, Apr. 21 as the Lennox High School track and field team hosted the Rich Luther Relays.

Lennox’s Sam Swanson continued his success in the distance races, capturing first place in the 1600 meter run. Sam clocked a time of 4:47.23 in the event. Cloy McVey also competed in the event for Lennox, capturing fourth place with a time of 4:59.27. Noah Sayler took 12th, Chett Jibben 21st, Maverick Horst 22nd, and Caleb Ellwein 36th.

Swanson earned runner-up honors in the 3200 meter run, clocking a time of 10:29.58. McVey took tenth in the event with a time of 11:03.04 and Sayler finished 19th.

The LHS boys continued success in the 110 meter hurdles with Layne Kuper, Austin Strasser, Landon Slack, and Joey Boysen all finishing in the top seven. Kuper took second place with a time of 16.07 seconds in the event. Strasser finished third with a time of 16.37, Slack fifth (18.24) and Boysen seventh (19.53). Success was also found in the 300 meter hurdles. Strasser took second with a time of 42.93 in the event. Kuper finished third with a time of 43.48 and Slack took sixth with a time of 45.63. Boysen took 17th in the event.

Other LHS boys with top ten finishes at the Rich Luther Relays include the 4x200 meter relay team. Members included Steven Christion, Cohen Metcalf, Braeden Wulf, and Ethan Larson. The group earned runner-up honors in the event with a time of 1:35.25.

The boys’ 1600 sprint medley relay team of Wulf, Christion, Swanson, and McVey took second in their event with a time of 3:50.49.

The boys’ 4x100 meter relay team of Metcalf, Trey Gerdes, Larson, and Ashton Bach took seventh place with a time of 47.28 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Gerdes took sixth place with a time of 57.09 in the event. Tarles Antoine took eighth with a time of 57.23.

In the 800 meter run, Sayler took ninth place with a time of 2:18.80 in the event. Antoine took 13th place, Jibben 17th, and Ellwein 24th.

In the boys’ 200 meter dash, Christion captured runner-up honors in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.14 in the event. Larson took seventh with a time of 25.31, Metcalf finished 11th, Wulf 15th, Bach 28th, Carter Van Houten 29th, Austin Richter 35th, Owen Neiberbaumer 41st and Kolby Seeman 42nd.

The boys’ 4x400 meter relay team of Boysen, Kuper, Strasser, and Slack took ninth place with a time of 3:57.50.

In the boys’ field events, Metcalf took fifth clearing 5’6”. Layton Smith tied for ninth. Christion took ninth in the long jump, jumping 18’10.25”. Wulf took 18th and Van Houten took 35th.

In the shot put, Cody Peterson continued to find success in the event, earning runner-up honors with a throw of 45’4.5”. Jacob Stubbe took ninth in the event with a throw of 39’11.5”. Nate Harr took 17th, Lance Roeder 29th, Emery Lefers 36th, Clayton Barret 41st, and Atticus Larson 43rd.

In the discus, Peterson took second in the event throwing 129’4”. Harr took ninth in the event with a throw of 111’4”. Stubbe took 12th, Lefers 23rd, Roeder 28th, Larson 38th, and Barret 47th.
