Veurink, Nelson qualify for State Golf to be held Oct. 5 & 6

The Lennox High School boys’ golf team competed at Two Rivers Golf Club for Region play on Monday, Sept. 28 — at stake was a trip to the 2006 State A Golf Tournament. 

Lennox had two golfers place in the top 22, earning them a spot at State. Grayden Veruink shot a 77 at Two Rivers to lead the Lennox team and place 12th, qualifying for State.  Veurink’s day was highlighted by two birdies. He shot a 42 on the front nine and a 35 on the back.

Joining Veurink at State will be Easton Nelson, who shot an 80. Easton, who shot a 39 on the front nine and a 41 on the back, also had a birdie on the day. 

Just missing State by one stroke was Lennox’s Eli Plank, who shot an 81, one stroke over qualifying. Plank had a birdie on the day as well and shot a 40 on the front nine and a 41 on the back. 

Also competing for Lennox at Regions was Cason Zens, who shot an 84 (43, 41), and Griffin Eich, who shot an 87 (42, 45). 

The 2026 State A Tournament will be held at Lakeview Municipal Golf Course in Mitchell, Oct. 5 and 6. Play will begin at 9 a.m. on both Monday, Oct. 5, and Tuesday, Oct. 6. The tournament will be a two-day, 26-hole event. Each contestant is scheduled to play 18 holes both Monday and Tuesday. The Individual Championship places will be determined by individual, two-day combined scores.
