Turner County 4-Hers compete in State Shoot

The South Dakota 4-H Shooting Sports program is a part of the SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Development program, focusing on developing safe shooting habits in participating youth members. April 24 – 26, 2026, several Turner County 4-H members competed at the State 4-H Shooting Sports Competition at Fort Pierre. Youth had to qualify to participate in the state shoot by submitting a match score in the discipline(s) they chose to participate in at the State 4-H Shoot. 

The following youth are Turner County 4-H members who participated in Lincoln, Minnehaha, and Turner County 4-H Shooting Sports programs. A special thanks to Humboldt Sharpshooters of Minnehaha County, Lincoln County Shooting Sports, and Turner County 4-H Archery instructors and families for teaching our youth. 

These youth placed in the top five as individuals at either the State Shoot or in one of the state-wide qualifying matches.

The following youth were part of teams that received awards for being in the top five. Several of our youth participate in the Humboldt Sharp Shooters club of Minnehaha County and Lincoln County Shooting Sports as well as Turner County 4-H Archery. Therefore, many of the BB Gun and Air Rifle teams are a mixture of Turner, Lincoln, and Minnehaha County 4-H members. All of the archery teams were Turner County 4-H Archery members. Youth on the BB Gun and Air Rifle teams who are primary Turner County 4-H members names are italicized.
