After 11 years in the same location, Tim’s Auto Repair has moved one block West (202 W 1st Street in Worthing) to better serve customers.
Growing up in Rock Valley, Iowa, Tim Wichers spent his early years learning how everything mechanical worked.
From engines to broken toys, Wichers felt comfortable taking things apart to learn of their inner workings.
“Growing up as a kid, there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t take apart or tinker with, and obviously a career in auto repair was the perfect fit for me,” Wichers said.
After high school, Wichers made his way to Sioux Falls to find a career in the auto repair world.
“I worked for a few different repair shops in Sioux Falls, and I knew that I could give my customers more, and becoming my own business owner was the way to do that,” he said.
At just 26, Wichers founded Tim’s Auto & Repair from the ground up and began to meet the locals.
“This town was insanely welcoming and when I opened my doors and the customers just kept coming,” Wichers said.
It didn’t take long for Wichers to outgrow his building and begin to focus his efforts on finding a permanent home for Tim’s Auto & Repair.
“This job is my passion and I offer a variety of services like oil changes, engine replacement, transmission work, and diagnosis of vehicles for my customers and I needed to find a location that could offer room to do all of that. I may be a one man show, but this is a one stop shop,” he said.
Still within eye shot of his old location, Wichers knows his customers word of mouth will help them discover his new location like they found his last.
“We are just a block West of the old location, so just like the first time they found me, my customers will rediscover my new location and they will have the same great service they have come to expect,” Wichers said.
Building a relationship with his customers is what Wichers credits his success to the most.
“I have never had to do advertising a day in my life, My customers have kept me busy my entire career because of the good reputation I have earned by the good service I provide them,” Wichers said.
