The road to progress… Lennox’s newest housing development taking shape

By Wendy Sweeter

After breaking ground on Countryside Acres in June on the north end of Lennox, Nielson Construction has been doing a lot of dirt work in the development.

Nielson Construction marketing strategist Sydney Frey said with the good weather this fall they have been able to get a lot of work done.

“We’re thankful the weather was good so they could get out there last week and start on things. Things have been going smooth,” Frey said. “We’re excited to be a part of Lennox and help grow their community with this new neighborhood.”

They are currently digging curb and gutter as long as the weather allows. After curb and gutter is finished, they will move onto digging utilities.

“I’m very happy with the progress Kelly’s (Nielson) team was able to make late this year. Our inspections of the infrastructure so far have been positive, and we’re crossing our fingers that the weather cooperates with the remainder of the work scheduled for this year! I look forward to seeing new homes and new faces in Lennox in the near future,” said city administrator Nathan Vander Plaats.

The 80-acre development has room for approximately 140 homes in the first phase, which include mostly single family homes and some fourplexes and twin homes.

Frey said home construction should be able to begin in the spring. She said they have already had interest from potential homeowners.
