The Lennox Post 174 Senior Legion baseball team faced a tough challenge on Thursday, June 19, falling 14-2 to SMFC Sr. Legion Post 152 in a five-inning contest.

Lennox struggled to generate offense early, going down in order in the top of the first with a flyout and two strikeouts. SMFC, on the other hand, came out strong in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on walks, hit batters, and timely hits to build an early lead. By the end of the first frame, SMFC had surged ahead 14-0, highlighted by a pair of doubles, a sacrifice fly, and several stolen bases.

Despite the early deficit, Lennox continued to battle. In the top of the fourth, Talen Eich drew a walk and later scored on an error following a single from Cole Spieler. Dayne Moeller’s groundout scored another run, cutting slightly into SMFC’s advantage.

On the mound, Lennox used multiple pitchers in an effort to slow SMFC’s offense. Dane Winterboer started, followed by relief appearances from Jack Aashiem and Jackson Anacker. Anacker had four strike-outs in his three innings pitched.

Lennox’s final offensive push came in the fifth when Anacker doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but SMFC’s defense closed the door with a strikeout to end the game.

Lennox came out swinging and never relinquished their lead in a 7-5 win over the Elk Point-Jefferson Senior Legion team on Friday, June 20.

Hits by Spieler and Mason Reischl extended the lead to 3-0, and a two-run single from Justin Butler made it 5-0 before EPJ could record the final out of the inning.

On the mound, Spieler delivered a strong performance for Lennox, striking out multiple batters and working around baserunners in key moments. EPJ fought back in the second inning, scoring two runs to narrow the deficit to 5-2.

Lennox added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Gabe Veurink sparked the fourth by reaching on a single and later scoring on a passed ball. In the same frame, an error allowed Anacker to cross home plate, giving Lennox a 7-3 advantage.
