Security Bank donates over $9,000 to LACF

Security Bank recently presented a check to the Lennox Area Community Foundation (LACF) in the amount of $9,107.44. This amount represents a 25% match that Security Bank has committed to do for LACF for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026 — up to $10,000 annually.

Brian Zirpel, Senior Vice President of Security Bank and LACF treasurer is pictured above presenting the check to LACF board members. Other Security Bank employees are also pictured.

The LACF was founded in 2004 as a way to enhance and improve the quality of life for those right here in our communities. Every day, these grants are touching the lives of people right here at home, strengthening our communities and building a brighter tomorrow for future generations.

Thanks to the support of generous donors like Security Bank, the LACF has granted more than $137,000 to the communities of Lennox, Chancellor and Worthing since being founded in 2004.

For those inspired to contribute to the Lennox Area Community Foundation, donations can be made online at http://www.sfacf.org/lennox or by mailing a check to LACF, PO Box 87, Lennox, SD 57039.

A board of local directors oversees the fund and works hand-in-hand with community members and civic leaders to understand needs and explore opportunities throughout the area.

LACF Board members include Jonathan Hagena, President; Amy Fischer, Vice President; Pam Elhoff, Secretary; Brian Zirpel, Treasurer; Nick Abbas, Lorin Brass, Julia Eng, Vickie Plucker, Alan Rops, Laurie Shaffer, John Steever, and Carol Wulf.

Each year, the board awards grants in support of local nonprofits and community-based projects and ideas. Organizations who serve our youth and senior citizens, as well as those dedicated to important causes such as education, the arts, cultural enrichment, health and safety, and more are all made stronger thanks to support from the Lennox Area Community Fund.

LACF 2024 grant recipients included:  Lennox Area Historical Society in the amount of $2,000; Love Inc. of Greater Lennox and Turner County in the amount of $1,850; Worthing Community Fire Department in the amount of $1,850; Lennox Community Library in the amount of $1,245; Junior Achievement of South Dakota in the amount of $2,000; Lennox Area Ambulance in the amount of $4,000; and the Lennox Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $2,500; and Lincoln County 4-H in the amount of $2,000 for a total of $17,395.
