School board hears from students about wanting a soccer team

The Lennox School Board met Aug. 11 and heard public comment from citizens about starting girls soccer in the district.
Three students provided handouts about soccer and spoke about why they want to start girls soccer in the district. They provided survey results from an informal online survey with 71 respondents.
Parent Christine Wood also spoke in support of starting a girls soccer program. She asked them to consider what it would look like implementing a soccer program in the district. She presented them with how a soccer program is implemented over a five-year time frame from the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
They set the adult meal prices for the 2025-26 school year at $3.25 for breakfast and $5.25 for lunch.
The board approved the retirement of Worthing Elementary kindergarten teacher Paula Keyman effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
They approved the following substitutes for worker’s compensation: Jack Birk, Laurie Buchanan, Grace Christensen, Shane DeBoer, Claire Faber, Ashley Holzwarth, Cody Klungseth, Jacey Meier, Viana Mote, Sue Pfenning, Graycee Postma, Kelsey Schmidt, Stephanie Smit, Ashlyn Wildeboer and Isabella Zimmer.
The board reviewed the classified employee resignations from Bertha Wollman for foodservice, Kayla Lynde as educational assistant and Shannon Keatley as educational assistant.
They also reviewed the new classified staff work agreements for Shannon Keatley as Lennox Elementary administrative assistant, Margo Aul for foodservice at the high school, Ella Grengs as Lennox Elementary JK-4 educational assistant, Sandi Golterman as Lennox Elementary JK-4 educational assistant, Kelly Wulf as Lennox Elementary JK-4 educational assistant and Alissa Costa as Lennox Elementary foodservice.
The board approved the three change orders for the new addition at the high school. They approved two contracts with Teachwell and set the school board election date for the June primary date.
The board also approved the Totally Kids and Sunshine Preschool handbooks.
