The Lennox School Board met June 9 and approved an additional third grade section.

The board had previously cut third grade from three to two sections at Lennox Elementary at the April board meeting due to budgetary reasons. With the addition of more third grade students coming into the district for the 2025-26 school year, the board approved going back up to three sections.

They approved the resignation of Nancy Marlette as special education teacher and the new contracts for Lexi Herding for Lennox Elementary third grade and Leah Wright for Worthing Elementary fourth grade.

The board reviewed the classified employee resignations of Kristi Abbas as foodservice bookkeeper, Becky Jorgensen as foodservice cook and Dawn Timmerman as campus administrator, as well as the new work agreements for Kristi Abbas as foodservice cook, Becky Jorgensen as foodservice bookkeeper and Bertha Wollman as foodservice cook.

Junior high/high school principal Chad Allison reported that the exterior brick is almost done on the high school addition. Lockers have been installed in the locker rooms and ceramic tile is going up in the bathrooms. The gym floor will start being installed this week. They will wait to set up the weight room equipment until all of it has arrived.

The board approved an RFP to replace the door and hardware for the foodservice delivery door for $13,671.

They approved casting a ballot for Ryan Rollinger of Harrisburg in the runoff election for the South Dakota High School Activities Association East River at-large representative.

The board approved the comprehensive plan, ELL plan, family engagement plan, IDEA assurances and Medicaid administration agreement.

Since the federal government took so long to let the state know what they would get for Title II, the state has not gotten the amount figured out yet so the district can’t print off the new assurances. The board approved the consolidated application assurances.

Board member Nick Butler and the board thanked the admin team for stepping up to the superintendent roles over the past school year.

The board adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
