Sauers claims State Title at Middle School State Wrestling Meet: Vandehoef earns runner up honors, several others make the podium

Lennox middle school wrestlers traveled to Pierre this past weekend to compete in the Middle School State Wrestling Tournament, with several athletes earning podium finishes against top competition from across South Dakota.

Leading the way for Lennox was Khloe Sauers, who captured the 155-pound state championship. Sauers battled through a competitive bracket to secure the top spot on the podium.

Also advancing to the championship round was RJ Vandehoef, who finished as runner-up at 138 pounds, turning in a strong performance throughout the tournament.

Several other Lennox wrestlers earned medals with top-eight finishes. Cason Zens placed fourth at 85 pounds, while Jase Thoms took seventh at 120 pounds.

At 150 pounds, Kade Sweeter earned an eighth-place finish, and Maverick Mellegard also placed eighth at 157 pounds, rounding out Lennox’s list of state placewinners.
