Recent LHS graduate attending college and building a business

When we grow up we choose different paths. Some of us decide to go to college, while others join the workforce. Some of us are even lucky enough to pursue our dreams of owning our own business.

We tend to think that there are steps that you must follow like going to college and then having a career. One Lennox High School graduate is taking a different approach. Tyra Payne of Lennox, not only goes to college full time, she is on the track team at Dakota State University (DSU) and has her own business.

Payne is a member of the throwing team for Dakota State University’s track team. She is a 4 time all conference athlete for DSU. While she excels on the field, she is also excelling in ruining her own business.

Payne started her business Adorned Acrylics back in March of 2020. The business Payne started is an art business that provide unique paintings and portraits. “Everyone of our paintings is customizable and we love bringing ideas to life” said Payne. The young artist and entrepreneur has a large selection of ideas on her Facebook page. The range of pieces includes portraits, abstract sets and string line art. The possibilities are endless. Moving forward Payne would like to see the business expand. Payne wants to continue to add to her selection of pieces. She would also like to branch out to selling her pieces in another state and increase her exposure.

When Payne isn’t busy with studies, track and the business she likes to spend time with family and be outdoors. The DSU senior definitely has big goals and is not afraid to work hard to reach those goals. Payne is excited to create a custom piece for anyone who is interested. If you are interested in a custom piece of artwork you can contact Payne on her Facebook Adorned Acrylics for more information.
