Powerlifters find success at Brandon Valley

The Lennox Powerlifting team dominated the competition at the Brandon Valley meet held Saturday, Jan. 27, with 12 out of 23 contestants clinching top-three finishes. All Lennox athletes broke at least one personal record at the meet.

Head Coach Jona Leo expressed his immense pride in the team’s consistent excellence over the years.

“The Lennox Powerlifting athletes and parents have continued to impress me year after year.  Having great assistant coaches and athletes with the best attitude are the main contributors to success,” said Leo. “At the Brandon Valley Invite we saw a record number of Orioles on the podium but more importantly, we saw people grow in self-confidence and personal growth, physically and mentally. I’m excited for the next competition as we introduce 17 Junior High Orioles to competitive powerlifting on Feb. 24 in Yankton.”

Assisting Leo are Scott Meyer, Matt Wolf, Krimzon Summers, Cody Peterson, and Matt Luze.

The coaches along with the entire powerlifting team extended heartfelt gratitude to the parents and student supporters whose encouragement contributed to the team’s success.

“We had an amazing fan base and it was a great day,” said Luze.

Taking home first place honors at Brandon Valley were Clayton Barrett, Lyncoln Leo, and Jayden Hopf. Braelyn Baloun earned first and top girl performer based on coefficient. Earning second place honors were Emory Lefers, James Hermanson, Shayden Olean, Katelyn Vargas, Abbie Wildeboer, and Maddyn Hossle.
