Haar recorded three strike-outs during his inning at the mound.

On Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8 the Lennox Senior Legion competed in the Wakefield Wood Bat Tourney. Lennox began play on Saturday morning facing off against Wayne.

Despite a promising start in the first inning, Lennox  couldn’t capitalize on key opportunities and struggled against a strong Wayne pitcher, ultimately losing 4-1.

Lennox got on base early in the top of the first when Bittner laid down a bunt single and Anacker was hit by a pitch. But then Lennox had back-to-back strikeouts and a lineout to end the inning.

Wayne took the lead in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on two hits and an error. Wayne added another run in the second inning, pushing the lead to 4-0.

Lennox managed to get on the board in the top of the fourth. Spieler reached on an error and advanced to third on a wild pitch. With two outs, Veurink drove a line-drive single to center, scoring Spieler and giving Lennox their lone run of the game.

Despite a few scattered baserunners—including a leadoff double from Spieler in the sixth—Lennox was unable to rally. The Wayne defense stayed sharp, turning two double plays and keeping Lennox from gaining momentum.

On the mound, Spieler pitched a complete game for Lennox, striking out seven batters and working through several tough innings to keep the deficit manageable.

Offensively, Lennox was led by Spieler, who had a double and scored the team’s only run. Bittner also reached base three times, with a bunt single, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch.

Lennox, however, bounced back facing off against BDS later in the afternoon on Saturday, a grabbing the 11-0 shutout.

Lennox came out swinging in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on shaky BDS pitching and smart base running to take a quick 4-0 lead. Bittner opened the game with a walk and later came around to score on a single by Spieler. Lennox’s patience at the plate paid off as three batters—Reischl, Moeller, and Haar—were hit by pitches in the inning, each one bringing in a run. Griffen Boomgarden added to the scoring with a bases-loaded walk.

Reischl was lights out on the mound, holding BDS hitless through the first two innings and striking out five batters in his four innings of work.

In the second inning, Lennox tacked on another run when Spieler doubled to bring Eich home, making it 5-0. The offense didn’t slow down. In the third, Boomgarden and Bittner each walked, setting the table for a two-run double by Anacker, who drove in both runners and pushed the lead to 7-0.

The fourth inning saw more solid hitting and aggressive base running. Moeller doubled and later scored on a single from Haar. Another BDS error allowed Haar to score, stretching the lead to 9-0.

Lennox capped off the scoring in the fifth when Jack Aashiem, who entered the game as a sub, drilled a two-run double to left field, driving in Spieler and Reischl. That brought the game to its final score of 11-0.

Defensively, Lennox was sharp and efficient, highlighted by error-free play in the field. Reischl finished with six strikeouts over four innings, while Eich closed out the game on the mound with a strong fifth inning, including a strikeout to end it.

Lennox then faced off against W-P/D-H on Sunday, June 8 and earned the 8-0 shutout.

Lennox set the tone early, exploding for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. The offensive onslaught started with three consecutive walks issued to Bittner, Anacker, and Eich. Cleanup hitter Spieler delivered the first big blow, crushing a bases-clearing double to right field and then advancing to third on an error.

A hit-by-pitch, two more walks, and a wild pitch pushed another run across before Veurink launched a two-RBI double to right, giving Lennox a commanding 7-0 lead before W-P/DH could record a single out. An error in the outfield later in the inning allowed Veurink to score, pushing the lead to 8-0.

On the mound, Lefers was sharp and efficient for Lennox. The right-hander went the distance, tossing a five-inning complete game shutout. Lefers allowed just two hits, and struck out seven.

Lennox’s offense cooled after the first inning but continued to apply pressure. Spieler finished with two hits and three RBIs, and Veurink added a pair of RBIs as well.
