A new monthly family friendly event is coming to Lennox. Park Drive After 5 will kick off July 25 bringing new and classic cars, craft vendors, and food trucks from around the area.

Local resident, Brandie Nordman has teamed up with the Lennox Commercial Club and Jessie Severson to provide new entertainment options for the town.

“This is the first year for an event like this, and we want it to be a yearly tradition. We are coming together to have a family friendly night in the park, eat supper, and socialize with your local community while picking up local handmade goods or garden produce,” Nordman said.

On July 25, August 22, and September 12 the group plans to shut Park Drive down from 5 to 9 p.m. for its inaugural year.

“We are looking to bring car clubs, vintage cars, or anyone with a car or truck that they are proud of and want to show off. We are going looking for four food trucks along with vendors to set up crafts or farmers market items,” she said.

The layout of the event is still in the works, but progress is being made.

“We will park any of the show cars in the park along with the food trucks and any vendors. Public parking will be on either side of the park, for example, Main Street and Elm Street, depending on how many cars show up and park in the park,” Nordman said.

To keep the event as family friendly as possible, Nordman is trying to keep costs at a minimum.

“There will be no cost to get into the event, only if you want to purchase from a vendor, this is our first run at bringing this event together and if it is a big hit, we will look at bringing more ideas to this fun night at the park,” she said.

Still looking for vendors, Nordman asks that anyone interested contact her for more information.

“Each Vendor needs to have a peddler permit from with the City of Lennox, that cost is $25 per event or $50 for the year and they can contact me at 605-231-1323 or brandienordman@gmail.com,” Nordman said.

Wanting to bring families and the community closer together, Nordman hopes to see everyone Friday July 25.

“I think this will be good for the Lennox Community. Many people are moving to Lennox or considering the move, and maybe this will make their decision. Any event that will showcase how great small town living is, and help community members make new friends, enjoy new dining options, and get outdoors and enjoy the summer nights is great,” Nordman said.

Another highlight will be the Lennox Fourth of July Fireworks show that has been rescheduled to Friday, July 25. The fireworks will be shot off from the old football field (not the high school). Viewing for the fireworks will be from Westerman Park.
