Orioles roll past Canton

The Lennox High School football team maintained possession of the Black and Blue helmet, defeating Canton 40-0 at home on Friday, Oct. 3 in the annual Black and Blue Bowl.
Lennox had over 450 yards of offense, passing for 317 and rushing for 135 to win in dominating fashion.
In the opening quarter, Lennox found the end zone twice, first on a six yard touchdown pass from Cayden Huls to Drake Mikkelsen and then again on a 29 yard pass from Huls to Brennen Juffer.
In the second quarter, Jhaimann Huntington found Mikkelsen for the 54 yard touchdown pass to give the Orioles a 21-0 halftime lead.
In the third, Lennox continued to dominate as Huls connected with Juffer for the duo’s second touchdown of the night, this time on a 18 yard pass.
Williams then did his work on the ground, running it in for the 57 yard touchdown, giving Lennox a 24-0 lead.
In the fourth, Huls and Mikkelsen connected again, as Mikkelsen hauled in a four yard pass for his third scored of the night, giving Lennox the 40-0 victory.
Huls finished the night completing 14 of 22 passes for 198 yards. He threw for four touchdowns. Huntington completed four of 13 passes for 114 yards, including one touchdown pass.
On the ground, Williams rushed for 116 yards on 14 carries. Shayden Olean rushed for 17 yards on three carries.
Mikkelsen caught eight passes for 119 yards; Juffer four for 90 yards; Tate Gerdes four for 75 yards; and Talen Eich, Gavin Horner and Olean each had a reception in the game.
Defensively, Leif Karlson continued to be a force, recording four sacks in the game. Max Weeldreyer also had a key interception in the game and a sack. Williams led the team in tackles with nine solo tackles and one assisted. Jevyn Lefers had seven solo tackles and Gerdes had five. Also recording a sack in the game was Ben Heibult.
With the win, the Orioles improve to 4-2 on the season. They will host a 5-1 Madison team this Friday, Oct. 10. Madison has recorded wins over Dell Rapids (21-10), Custer (43-0), Vermillion (34-15), and Tri-Valley (33-7). Their lone loss came at the hands of Sioux Falls Christian (42-6).
Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
