Orioles go 2-1 against Tea, Beresford and Dell Rapids during busy week of volleyball

The Lennox High School Oriole volleyball team went 2-1 over three matches last week, earning wins over Tea and Beresford before falling to Dell Rapids.

Lennox opened the week Monday, Sept. 28, with a 3-0 victory over Tea, winning 25-22, 25-16 and 25-18.

Rylee Hedin led the Orioles with 13 kills, followed by Libby Kranz with 12. Catie Sherard, Peyten Wright and Alivia Martz each recorded two aces. Wright had the team’s highest serve-receive rating at 2.1.

Sherard recorded 21 assists and Martz added 18. Mallorie Bittner led the team with 13 blocks, while Jersie Hostetler had six. Kranz recorded 15 digs and Addy Stucky added nine.

The Orioles followed with another 3-0 victory Tuesday, Sept. 29, defeating Beresford 25-10, 25-15 and 25-17.

Kranz led Lennox with 11 kills, while Hostetler added eight. Kranz and Bittner each recorded three aces. Kranz also had the team’s highest serve-receive rating at 2.3.

Sherard finished with 19 assists and Martz had 15. Bittner recorded four blocks, while Kranz and Hostetler each had two. Stucky led the Orioles with 17 digs, followed by Wright with 14.

Lennox closed out the week Thursday, Oct. 1, against Dell Rapids, falling 3-0. The Orioles lost 23-25, 11-25 and 18-25.

Kranz led the team with 10 kills, while Hostetler and Bittner each recorded four. Sherard and Martz each had one ace.

Stucky and Hostetler posted the highest serve-receive rating at 1.7. Sherard recorded 10 assists and Martz added nine. Bittner led the team with three blocks, while Sydney Johnson and Maren Juffer each had two. Stucky recorded 11 digs and Kranz added nine.

The Orioles will compete in the Omaha Skutt Invite Saturday, Oct. 10. Lennox will then travel to Garretson Monday, Oct. 12, before hosting Dakota Valley Tuesday, Oct. 13.
