The Lennox High School Orioles wrapped up their 2026 season with a seventh-place finish at the Class A State Softball Tournament held June 4-6, earning a victory over Madison after dropping their first two contests of the tournament.

Lennox opened tournament play against Tri-Valley on Thursday, June 4 and jumped out to an early lead. The Orioles scored once in the first inning when Hailey Seelen crossed the plate on a Mustang error, then added three more runs in the second. Aleeah Oltmanns delivered a two-run double and Seelen followed with a two-run double of her own as Lennox built a 4-0 advantage.

Tri-Valley responded with three runs in the second inning and four more in the third to take control of the game. The Mustangs continued to add insurance runs and defeated Lennox 13-4.

Seelen finished with a double, RBI and run scored, while Oltmanns added a two-run double. Hayley Hahn, Jersey Zahn, Lauren Anacker, Peyton Wright, and Macy Wallenstein each recorded hits for the Orioles.

Layci Eli and Hahn handled pitching duties, each striking out three batters.

Lennox took on Sioux Valley in the consolation bracket on Friday, June 5 and again started strong. Eli doubled to open the game and later scored on a groundout by Seelen. The Orioles added three runs in the second inning on RBI singles from Anacker and Morgan DeHaan to take a 4-1 lead.

Sioux Valley answered with four runs in the second inning and never relinquished the advantage. Lennox pulled even at 5-5 in the fifth when Wallenstein singled home Seelen, but the Cossacks erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth and added two more in the sixth to secure a 15-5 victory.

Wallenstein paced the Orioles with two hits and an RBI. DeHaan contributed a two-run single, while Anacker, Eli, and Jersey Zahn each collected hits.

In Saturday’s seventh-place game against Madison, who was the top seed heading into the tournament, Lennox saved its best performance for last.

The Orioles capitalized on Madison miscues and aggressive baserunning to score two runs in the opening inning. Seelen drove in the game’s first run with a single, and Hahn later reached on an error that brought home another run.

Lennox broke the game open with a three-run second inning. Wallenstein drew a bases-loaded walk before Hahn delivered a two-run single to extend the lead to 5-2.

The Orioles added four more runs in the fourth inning behind RBI hits from Morgan DeHaan, Madyson Dykstra and Anacker to build a 9-2 advantage. Lennox tacked on two additional runs in the fifth inning when Zahn singled home a pair of runs, giving the Orioles an 11-2 cushion.

Madison mounted a late rally, highlighted by a four-run home run from Ella Malone in the sixth inning, but Lennox held on for the 11-7 victory.

The Orioles totaled 15 hits in the win. Eli collected three hits, while Wallenstein, Hahn, Zahn, and DeHaan each recorded two. Hahn drove in three runs while DeHaan and Zahn added two RBIs each.

Hahn and Eli were in the circle for the Orioles. Hahn recorded three strike-outs and Eli one.
