On Friday, Sept. 19 the Lennox High School football team hosted West Central in the 2025 Homecoming match-up. Both teams struggled to get any offense going in the first half, but Lennox managed a touchdown in the third quarter as Tate Gerdes grabbed the scoring pass from Cayden Huls. The point after gave Lennox a 7-0 lead.

However, right after Lennox’s score, West Central managed a pass to Boche Knight who ran it 70 yards for the score. The point after was no good, allowing Lennox to maintain the one point lead.

The offensive struggles continued for both teams in the fourth but West Central managed to kick through a 21 yard field goal, which would eventual give them the 9-7 win.

The Orioles finished the game with 208 yards of offense, gaining 151 in the air and 57 on the ground.

Huls completed 18 of 26 pass attempts for 151 yards, throwing the lone touchdown pass to Gerdes. Huls had one interception in the game.

Mikkelsen caught two passes for 63 yards, Gerdes had 11 grabs for 59 yards, Brennen Juffer three for 19 and Talen Eich two for ten.

On the ground, Ramsey Williams rushed for 35 yards on 15 carries. Gerdes gained 30 yards on three carries.

Defensively, Gavin Horner forced a fumble and had four tackles. Jevyn Lefers led the team with six tackles. Leif Karlson had five, Nolyn Spielman and Max Weeldreyer each had four, Williams and Gerdes each three, and Ben Heibult and Cole Spieler two each.

The Orioles will travel to Dakota Valley this Friday, Sept. 26 to take on the 2-2 Panthers in a 7 p.m. game. Dakota Valley lost last week to Tri-Valley (20-7) and opened the season with a 28-7 loss to Dell Rapids. Their two wins are over Lakota Tech (58-0) and Canton (35-14). Lennox will be home again on Friday, Oct. 3 when they take on Canton at 7 p.m.
