The Lennox High School boys’ basketball team faced off against St. Thomas More last week, Tuesday, Mar. 10 in the SoDak 16 match-up. Lennox trailed early but battled back to tie things up, forcing overtime. In overtime, however, St. Thomas More took the two-point advantage with just seconds on the clock. Lennox had one final look that fell short, giving St. Thomas More the 57-55 victory, sending them to the State A Tournament and ending the Orioles’ season.

“We got off to a slow start and slowly started making a push at the deficit towards the end of the third quarter. When the ball wasn’t going in the hoop, I was proud of our boys for staying the course and playing tough to push the game into overtime,” said LHS head coach Jacob Hinker. “St. Thomas More played a great game. Our boys have nothing to hang their heads about as they showed continual improvement and toughness all basketball season.”

Leading the Orioles in the St. Thomas More match-up was Aiden Hanssen who finished with 25 points in the game. Tate Gerdes had 14 points, Teegan Musser 12, Cole Spieler, Drake Mikkelsen, and Eli Plank each added two points.

The Class A Boys’ State Tournament will be held this Thursday, Mar. 19, through Saturday, Mar. 21, in Rapid City.
