Orioles earn a trio of wins

On Wednesday, May 1 the Lennox High School baseball team hosted McCook Central/Montrose and earned the 5-2 victory. Lennox scored one run in the bottom of the first, another in the bottom of the second and two more in a the bottom of the third to take a 4-0 lead. The Orioles managed another score in the bottom of the sixth. McCook Central/Montrose attempted to answer with two runs in the top of the seventh, but Lennox held on for the win. 

The Orioles added to their early lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a Talen Eich double and Cole Spieler single. Also recording hits in the win were Isaac Bambas and Dayne Moeller. 

Jackson Anacker earned the win on the mound for Lennox. He surrendered one hit and one run over six and one-third innings. He struck out six and walked six. Moeller collected the save, recording one strike out in the win. 

On Thursday, May 2 the Orioles traveled to Hanson were they captured the 11-0 victory. Lennox scored seven runs in the fifth inning to get the big win. A highlight for the Orioles was Eich’s home run in the first inning. 

On the mound, Bambas earned the win. He allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings. He struck out eight. 

Recording two hits in the game were Bambas, Spieler, and Braxton Musser. Recording one hit were Jaxson Bittner, Eich, Moeller, Ramsey Williams, Triston Butler, and Ashton Bach. 

On Sunday, May 5 the team traveled to Corsica and took the 8-6 win. 

Moeller led the Orioles offensively, collecting three hits in four at bats. He hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, a double in the third, and a single in the seventh. 

The Orioles captured the lead in the top of the seventh when Eich singled to score a run and Williams doubled, scoring two runs. An error also brought a runner across home, giving Lennox four runs in the inning and ultimately the 8-6 win. 

Eich earned the win for the Orioles. He allowed four hits and two runs over four innings. He recorded four strike outs and walked two. Musser opened the game for the Orioles. He allowed seven hits and four runs over three innings. He recorded three strike-outs. 

Lennox will be at home on Sunday, May 12 when they host Flandreau in a 3 p.m. match-up.
