Orioles dominate Garretson

On Wednesday, May 14 the Lennox High School baseball team took on Garretson. Lennox jumped to an early 6-0 lead and never looked back, scoring seven more runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the 14-3 victory.

In the first inning, Talen Eich singled to score one run; Sam Bambas singled to also bring a run across home plate; Gabe Veurink singled to score a run and Justin Butler doubled, to bring home three runners. 

In the big sixth inning, Lennox scored seven runs on five hits. Eich doubled to bring two runners home; Bambas walked to score a runner; Veurink singled, bringing another run home; Butler hit a sacrifice fly to bring a runner in; Mason Reischl doubled, to score a run and Griffin Boomgarden singled, scoring a run. 

On the mound, Cole Spieler earned the win, surrendering one hit and zero runs over two innings. He struck out one and walked none. Jackson Anacker three one inning of no-run ball in relief. He allowed one hit. Also seeing pitching action was Eich who allowed one hit and recorded one strike-out and Bambas who allowed two hits, two runs over two innings. He recorded one strike-out. 

Recording two hits in the game were Anacker, Eich, and Veurink. Getting one hit were Boomgarden, Bambas, Butler, Reischl, and Jack Aasheim. Butler led in RBIs with four. Lennox also stole seven bases in the game. 

Lennox was scheduled to begin play-offs on Tuesday, May 20 in Dell Rapids. They were scheduled to play West Central at 5 p.m. with the winner playing the winner of the Dell Rapids/8th Seed game at 3 p.m. at 7 p.m. The winner of the 7 p.m. game will advance to State.
