On Friday, Feb. 27 the Lennox High School boys’ basketball team took on Dakota Valley in their final regular season game. Lennox jumped out early to take the 72-57 victory.
“I was happy about how we finished the season against a Dakota Valley team that has playing good basketball over the past few weeks. We shot 50% from the field and limited our turnovers to four, which led to a great offensive outing for us,” said LHS head coach Jacob Hinker. “We got scoring contributions from everyone who stepped foot on the floor, and it is great to see everyone starting to shoot with confidence going into postseason play.”
Leading the Orioles was Aiden Hanssen, who finished with 22 points in the game. He also had five rebounds, two assist and two steals. Tate Gerdes finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and one steal. Teegan Musser was also in double figures, scoring ten points. Cole Spieler finished with eight, grabbing six rebounds and recording one assist. Eli Plank had six points, Drake Mikkelsen four points, four rebounds, and two steals, and Talen Eich provided three points. Eli Highum also had two points in the game.
The Orioles were scheduled to enter into Region 4A playoff action on Tuesday, Mar. 3, taking on Canton at home. The winner will advance to face the winner of the Vermillion/Elk Point Jefferson game (also slated for Mar. 3) on Friday, Mar. 6. The Mar. 6 winner will advance to the SoDak 16 slated to be played Mar. 10.
