Orioles compete at Rider Boys’ Invitational: Larson captures 175 pound title

The Lennox High School wrestling team turned in a strong showing at the Rider Boys’ Invitational held Saturday, Dec. 6 at Sioux Falls Roosevelt. The Orioles brought home three top-five finishes, highlighted by Grant Larson’s championship title at 175 pounds (pictured above). 

Larson dominated his bracket with three consecutive wins by fall, including a quick 30-second pin in the quarterfinals and a fall in 1:30 over O’Gorman’s Zach Schuler in the finals.

Kedren Fergen earned a third-place finish at 138 pounds, bouncing back in the placement match with a pin at 2:04.

Cade Aasheim battled through the 132-pound bracket to take fifth place, closing out the day with a 14-0 major decision.

Sully Weeldreyer also grabbed a fifth-place finish at 106 pounds.

On Friday, Dec. 12 the Orioles plan to travel to The Monument Summit Arena in Rapids City. Competition will continue on Saturday, Dec 13. They will be at Tri-Valley on Dec. 18 and at Madison on Saturday, Dec. 20.
