Burial flags will be put up at the cemetery this year by local Boy and Girl Scout troops, under the direction of Girl Scout leader and Legion member, Angela Cuka.

“I had the youth help me with this when we lived in Parker and it was very meaningful for myself as well as the kids to ask questions and see the amount of veterans we have in the area who served,” said Cuka. “It’s also a time for them to learn respect for the flags and etiquette at the cemetery.”

The troops will be putting the grave flags out on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

The Chancellor American Legion Bertus Jurgens Post #283 will be holding their Memorial Day Service also on Monday, May 27. The service will be held at Chancellor Reformed at 9:30 a.m.  Following the Retirement of the Colors a Flanders Fields Ceremony will take place at the west of the Church. Lunch will be served at the Church Social Hall after the Flanders Fields ceremony.
