Memorial Day Program in Chancellor to be held May 25

Chancellor American Legion Bertus Jurgens Post #283 will hold their Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25 at Chancellor Reformed Church at 9:30 a.m.
The ceremony will begin with a welcome by Commander Kent DeJong then the presentation of the colors. “The Star Spangled Banner” will be performed by David Friese with the invocation done by Rev Marc de Waard. Joann Muller will recognize God Star Sisters and all will partake in “America, the Beautiful.”
Kathy de Waard will recognize the Branches of Service.
The speaker for the event will be Vietnam combat veteran Bill Kortemeyer.
Recognition of returned active military will also take place.
Following the ceremony at the Church, the event will continue with the Flanders Field Ceremony to the west of the church. “In Flanders Field” will be read by Sydni Eitreim and the reply to “In Flanders Field” by Shelly Paynter. Taps will be performed by Adj. Lee Holst.
Lunch will be served at the church social hall following the Flanders Fields ceremony.
