Lincoln Co. 4-H Achievement Days begin July 30

LENNOX, S.D. – Preparations are underway for the 2023 Lincoln County 4-H Achievement Days.

The dates for 2023 are July 30 through Aug. 3. All events will be at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds located at 27711 HWY 17, Lennox. Members will bring their display exhibits to be judged to the 4-H Building on July 30 and 31 with judging happening on July 31. These events are closed to the public.

The public is invited to check out events the rest of the week. On July 31, 4-H members will compete in Cupcake Wars at 7 p.m. All are welcome to participate in Family Bingo at 8:15 p.m. July 31.

On Aug. 1, the swine show begins at 8 a.m., the dairy cattle show starts at 10 a.m. and the sheep and meat goat show begins at 6 p.m. We will have STEM boat races at 1 p.m. If you have a child who would like to make a boat and submit it in the boat race, contact the office for materials by July 28 by calling 605-764-2756.

On Aug. 2, the beef show begins at 9 a.m., the rabbit show begins at 1 p.m., the companion animal show begins at 5 p.m. and cloverbud show & tell is at 6:30 p.m. The Junior Leaders are tentatively planning a youth dance from 8-11 p.m.

On Aug. 3, the poultry show begins at 9:30 a.m. and round robin starts at 2 p.m. The Balloon Hippie will be at the grounds at 3 p.m. to show kids how to make balloons.

The 4-H barbecue runs from 5-7 p.m. with the premium sale beginning at 5 p.m. Fashion revue, awards and the talent show begin at 7 p.m.

Concessions are available every day of achievement days. More activities continue to be added to the schedule.

“We invite the public to come see what our 4-H’ers have been working on all year. We want our communities to come together to enjoy some family time the first week in August,” said Lincoln County 4-H program adviser Wendy Sweeter. “See you at achievement days.”
