LHS softball defeat Canton, SFC; fall to WC

On Monday, Apr. 8 the Lennox High School softball hosted Canton and walked away with a 15-0 victory. 

The Orioles opened up with a ten run first inning which featured a triple by Layci Eli, a double by Ahleeya Nicola, a walk by Macy Wallenstien, a single by Danica VanNingen, a triple by Hailey Seelen, and another double by Eli. Jersey Zahn was struck by a pitch to drive in a run and Teagen Sturm drew a walk, also scoring a run in the opening inning. 

In the bottom of the second inning, Lennox added to their lead as Aleeah Oltmanns (pictured below) drew a walk to score a run. VanNingen also singled, scoring another run.

In the third inning, Emma Seykora walked and Zahn singled, each scoring a run in the inning for the Orioles. The game ended after three innings. 

Eli earned the win for Lennox on the mound, giving up zero hits over two innings, striking out four and walking none. Hayley Hahn tossed one inning for Lennox in relief. She allowed one hit and struck out three batters. 

On Thursday, Apr. 11 the team was home again, this time hosting Sioux Falls Christian. Lennox scored seven runs in the second inning en route to a 11-0 victory.

In the big inning, Seelen doubled, scoring one run, Sturm drew a walk, scoring one run, Taylor Rigle doubled, scoring two runs, Zahn doubled, scoring one run, and Hahn grounded out, scoring one run. Zahn also stole home to bring  in another run for Lennox. 

Lennox got on the board in the bottom of the first after Seelen stole home and Zahn singled to bring in a run. The Orioles scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to seal the victory. 

Hahn earned the win on the mound, giving up only two hits and allowing zero runs over five innings. She struck out two batters and walked one. 

On Friday, Apr. 12 the Orioles traveled to West Central and suffered a 10-0 loss. West Central scored on run in the bottom of the first, two in the third, five in the fifth and two more in the sixth to get the win.

Eli handled pitching duties for Lennox, allowing 14 hits and ten runs. She recorded one strike out. 

The Orioles were scheduled to travel to Ethan-Parkston on Tuesday, Apr. 16 and will host Tea Area on Friday, Apr. 19. They will be home again on Tuesday, Apr. 23 when they take on Beresford and on Friday, Apr. 26 when they host Tri-Valley.
