On Friday, Dec. 12 the Lennox High School girls’ basketball team opened their season with a huge 49-34 victory over Sioux Falls Christian.

After trailing 30-26 at the half, the Orioles got things going, holding the Chargers to just four points in the second half and scoring 22 points of their own to get the win.

“I loved how we came out and competed; we were the first to 50/50 balls, competitive on the boards and aggressive to the rim. The girls did a good job executing our game plan versus their press and staying organized defensively as we switched up defenses more than we have in past years,” said LHS head coach Adam Quail. “Stats that stood out were free throw attempts, rebounding, and turnovers. We won all three as we shot 21 free throws to their five free throws, 24 rebounds to their 22, and 13 turnovers to their 22.”

Bergan Musser had a great game shooting, going seven of eight from the field to finish with 17 points. She also had four rebounds and six steals.

“We came ready to play and it showed. I’m excited for the week ahead,” added Quail.

Karlie Bosma finished the night with ten points, hitting two of three three-point attempts in the game. She also had one rebound, one assist, and one steal.

Tori Gerdes finished with seven points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Adie McVey had five points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Andie Peters also provided five points and had one assist and one steal.

Teagen Sturm finished with two points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Mia Hanisch had one point, one rebound and Olivia Niederbaumer had one point and three rebounds.

The LHS girls were scheduled to travel to Dell Rapids on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and will host Madison on Thursday, Dec. 18 in double header action with the LHS boys. The girls’ are scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 p.m. with the boys to follow. They will be home again on Saturday, Dec. 20 when they play host to Wagner in a 3:30 p.m. match-up.
