On Thursday, Feb. 26 the Lennox High School girls’ basketball team took on Canton in the second round of Region action.

Lennox was aggressive early, leading 20-6 after the opening quarter. They didn’t back down, getting the 68-29 victory over the C-Hawks to advance to the SoDak 16 — one win away from punching their ticket to the State A Tournament.

“I was excited for how we played our last home game of the season. I thought Teagen Sturm played a great game as she found open teammates early and knocked down open opportunities,” said LHS head coach Adam Quail. “Libby Kranz was aggressive and played with a lot of energy as she finished with ten points and six rebounds. As a team, we really made it tough for Canton on the offensive end as we held them to 26.5% shooting and outrebounded them 41-19.”

Peters also had a strong night, hitting four three-pointers from three-point range and finishing with 14 points. She also had two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kranz finished with ten points, and Sturm added 11, hitting three three-pointers in the game. She also had four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Tori Gerdes finished with eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists, and Bergan Musser, Karlie Bosma, and Olivia Niederbaumer each had seven points. Adie McVey and Mia Hanisch each chipped in two points.

The Orioles advance to the SoDak 16 with an 18-3 record, setting up a match-up against Miller at Madison High School on Thursday, Mar. 5, at 5:30 p.m. Miller has a 17-5 record this season. The winner will advance to the State A Tournament at Watertown, Mar. 12-14.

“We are looking forward to extending our season and matching up with a talented Miller team on Thursday,” added Quail.
