The Lennox High School girls tennis team made history last Friday as they hosted their first-ever home matches on the new high school courts. During the boys’ season last spring, the LHS boys were able to host their first matches on the new court and this time it was the girls’ turn.

Despite battling through hot and humid conditions, the Orioles came out strong in the morning match, defeating Milbank 7–2. Later that afternoon, they faced a traditionally tough Huron squad and pulled off an impressive 8–1 victory.

Not only did the wins mark the first competition for the LHS girls at the new facility, it also marked another milestone—the first time in program history that LHS girls have started the season 2–0.

Lennox was to be back in action Tuesday, Aug. 19 traveling to Yankton to face Yankton and Vermillion. The varsity squad will then compete Friday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Madison Invite.
