On Thursday, Jan. 21 the Lennox High School girls’ basketball team hosted West Central. The Trojans came into the game having only lost one contest this season, falling to White River on Jan. 2.
The game was slow going with West Central leading 9-4 after the opening quarter. The Orioles trailed 25-13 at the half but West Central took over in the third, leading 48-17 heading into the fourth quarter. Lennox dropped the match-up 58-29.
“I thought we executed our game plan very well versus West Central for most of the first half. We were able to get stops and good looks on offense. Early in the second half we had a stretch of turnovers and bad defensive possessions which allowed West Central to stretch out their lead,” said LHS head coach Adam Quail. “It was a good experience for our girls to compete against one of the top teams in the state.”
Lennox was led by Mara Hinker who finished with ten points in the game. She had three rebounds, one assist and one steal in the game.
Teagan Sanculi and Jenaka DeCou each had six points in the game. Sanculi grabbed three rebounds and led the team in assists with three. DeCou had two rebounds and two assists. Zoey Zebell finished with five points in the game. She had two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Drew Kuyper finished with two points, five rebounds. Alicia Ruud grabbed five rebounds in the game.
