The last time the Lennox High School girls’ qualified for the State Tournament their run was cut short before it even began as the Tournament was canceled due to COVID. That was 2020 — now in 2026 the LHS girls have punched their ticket once again by defeating Miller 62-33 at Madison on Thursday, Mar. 5 during the SoDak 16 match-up.

“We’re excited to be heading to state and to have the opportunity to extend our season for three more games. I’m especially happy for our seniors, who have been fantastic leaders all season,” said Oriole head coach Adam Quail. “This group has truly earned it with how hard they practice, how hard they play, and the extra time they put in during the offseason. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at state!”

The Orioles will begin their State run on Thursday, Mar. 12 in Watertown taking on fourth seeded Sioux Valley at 12:45 p.m. The winner will advance to play again on Friday, Mar. 13 at 5 p.m. The loser will drop to the consolation bracket and play on Friday, Mar. 13 at 11 a.m. The State Championship game will be played on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 6:45 p.m.

Against Miller, Lennox jumped out early and never looked back leading 20-5 after the opening period and outscored Miller 16-3 in the fourth quarter to seal the 62-33 win.

“We were able to take control early, and all the credit goes to our girls for being locked in and ready to play from the start. Defensively, we made Miller uncomfortable all night and forced them into 27 turnovers, which really set the tone for us,” said Quail. “On the offensive end, I thought we took great shots and played unselfishly. Bergan Musser was especially efficient, going 8-for-10 from the field for 16 points. We were really impressed with the crowd and are very appreciative of everyone who came out to support us and make the atmosphere so special.”

Musser was leading scorer with her 16 points. She also had five rebounds, three assist and four steals. Andie Peters was also in double figure for the Orioles as she finished with 12 points. She also grabbed three rebounds, had three assists and three steals. Adie McVey finished the night with nine points, going four of six from the field. She grabbed two rebounds and had three assists. Karlie Bosma finished with six points, two rebounds, two assists and a team-high five steals. Olivia Niederbaumer had five points, three rebounds and one steal. Libby Kranz also had five points in the game and pulled down three rebounds, had one assist and three steals. Tori Gerdes finished with four points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Teagen Sturm had three points, two rebounds and three steals. Kenzie Bosma added two points in the game.
