LHS girls continue win streak

The Lennox High School girls’ basketball team continued their winning ways, defeating Huron 43-28 on Thursday, Jan. 8 on the road and Groton 46-22 on Saturday, Jan. 10 at home.
“Defensively in both games we were great,” said LHS head coach Adam Quail. “Keeping both Huron and Groton below 30 points is impressive and a testament to how competitive our team is. Offensively we weren’t crisp so that will be a focus this upcoming week in practice.”
Against Huron, Libby Kranz led the way with ten points, going four of six from the field. She also had four rebounds in the game.
Bergan Musser provided nine points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal. Tori Gerdes contributed eight points, three rebounds, and one assist. Olivia Niederbaumer had six points, four rebounds, and two steals.
Karlie Bosma finished with five points against Huron, grabbed four rebounds, and had one assist and one steal. Teagen Sturm had three points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Andie Peters had two points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Against Groton, Peters stepped things up to lead the Orioles with 14 points. She hit two three pointers on the night and grabbed four rebounds and four steals.
Gerdes finished with nine points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Musser also had nine points, pulling down four rebounds as well and grabbing two steals. Niederbaumer had six points, and three rebounds. Scoring two points in the game were Sturm, Adie McVey, Kranz, and Mia Hanisch. McVey had a three steals and Bosma had five assists in the game.
The Orioles were scheduled to travel to Iowa to take on Western Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 13. They will be at home on Thursday, Jan. 15 when they take on Vermillion in double header action with the LHS boys. The girls are scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Jan. 17 the Orioles will compete in the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace in Mitchell. Lennox is set to tip-off against Mahpíya Lúta at 8:30 p.m. Complete Hanson Classic schedule is as follows:

On Tuesday, Jan. 20 the LHS girls will travel to Dakota Valley and on Thursday, Jan. 22 they head to West Central.
