LHS cross country team sets personal, season best times at Lennox Invite
The Lennox High School cross country team hosted the Lennox Cross Country Invite on Friday, Oct. 2, with the varsity runners leading the way and several Orioles recording personal- and season-best times.
In the girls varsity 5,000-meter race, Adie McVey led the Orioles with a season-best time of 19:29.3, placing her seventh among the talented field of runners. Kamille Schmidt followed with a personal-best time of 19:39.3, earning tenth. Lucy Carlson finished in 20:16.3, a personal best, taking 21st while Sophia Johnson posted a season-best time of 20:29.3 to take 24th. Chloe Aesoph finished in 23:02.2 for 72nd place, followed by Sophie Wood who clocked in at 25:54.3 to take 85th.
As a team the LHS varsity girls took second, behind West Central.
In the boys varsity 5,000-meter race, Landon Strasser led Lennox with a personal-best time of 16:17.1, placing seventh. Isaak Booker followed with a personal-best time of 16:36.3 to take 12th place.
Leo Aesoph finished in 17:38.5, a season-best time, to earn 35th while Jackson Schmidt posted a personal-best time of 18:26.2 to take 60th. Isaiah Sayler also recorded a personal best, finishing in 18:45.2, taking 66th place. Cade Aasheim finished in 19:44.3, placing 88th, while Charley Bittner crossed the finish line in 19:49.1 to take 89th. Both runners recorded personal-best times.
As a team, the LHS varsity boys took fifth. Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the team title.
The Orioles also had several runners compete in the junior varsity races.
In the boys JV 4,000-meter race, Quinten Lunt led Lennox with a personal-best time of 15:55.9, placing 39th. Lance Aasheim finished in 16:24.2, a season best, while Gage Ebbesen recorded a personal-best time of 16:58.0.
The girls JV team was led by Kaydence Gerry, who finished in 18:07.0, a season-best time, placing 14th. Adalynn Nielson finished in 20:39.2, followed by Harper Walsh in 20:52.1 and Lily Kuiken in 21:55.3. All four girls recorded season-best times.
In the middle school races, Sam Bostwick finished the boys 3,000-meter race in 13:20.1, a personal best, placing 29th.
Liliana Sanchez competed in the girls 3,000-meter race and finished in 14:20.4, also a personal-best time, taking 32nd.
The Orioles will compete in the DAK XII Conference meet in Sioux Falls on Thursday, Oct. 8.
Lennox will then host the Region meet on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m.
