On Thursday, Oct. 5 the Lennox High School cross country team competed in the Dak XII Conference Meet held in Vermillion.
In the LHS varsity girls 5K race, Adie McVey earned 12th place to lead Lennox with a time of 19:57.43. Karlie Bosma took 25th with a time of 21:12.6. Regan Van Meeteren finished in 29th with a time of 21:22.03. Josephine Plucker to 32nd with a time of 21:31.82. Kamille Schmidt finished in 33rd with a time of 21:36.38 and Allison Loewe finished 37th with a time of 22:06.00.
As a team the LHS varsity girls took sixth. Sioux Falls Christian won the meet title.
For the varsity boys, Maverick Horst led Lennox in the 5K race with a time of 17:04.98 to place 14th. Cade Sherard took 18th with a time of 17:16.80. Cloy McVey took 20th with a time of 17:24.79. Noah Sayler finished 23rd with a time of 18:07.68. Chett Jibben finished in 27th with a time of 18:16.31 and Lucas Hartman finished 36th with a time of 18:56.84.
As a team the varsity boys finished fifth. Sioux Falls Christian won the meet title.
For the Junior Varsity girls, Lennox finished fourth as a team with Natalie Aesoph leading the team in the 4K race with a time of 16:57.06 to earn seventh place. Holly Gillick took tenth (17:13.80), Kenzie Bosma 16th (17:48.96), Ellianna Thill 17th (17:58.53), Graycee Postma 32nd (19:14.35), Kassidy Williamson 37th (19:34.16), Callie Hammerstrom 45th (20:24.82), Maddyn Hossle 50th (20:51.86), and Jaelyn Fergen 53rd (21:05.02).
The JV boys finished third as a team and were led by Noah Wood who took eighth with a time of 14:34.92. Andrew Stensaas finished tenth (14:41.10), Noah Werner 22nd (15:26.37), Isaiah Sayler 24th (15:29.43), Connor Sherard 25th (15:32.92), Elijah Johnson 36th (16:11.10), Landon Atkins 41st (6:21.54), Jack Aasheim 49th (16:40.26), Cade Aasheim 52nd (16:47.32), Riley Nelson 64th (17:41.98), Duncan Johnson 68th (17:50.31), Caleb Ellwein 76th (18:15.52), Jan Montero 79th (18:55.82), and Karson Iken 80th (18:58.34).
A boys’ 3K race was also held. Lennox’s Landon Strasser led the way winning the race with a time of 10:38.30. Izaak Booker took fourth with a time of 11:06.15. Leo Aesoph finished seventh (11:19.36), Charley Bittner 13th (11:55.59), Jackson Schmidt 14th (11:58.22), Braylon Plucker 33rd (12:59.15), Lance Aasheim 59th (15:23.74), and Keegan Vander Plaats 61st (15:32.53).
In the girls’ 3K race, Kaydence Gerry led the way with an 11th place finish and time of 13:10.79. Gracie Wood finished in 16th place with a time of 13:38.19. Lucy Carlson took 18th (13:40.08), Ava Elk Boy 29th (14:41.29), and Harper Walsh 34th (15:27.39).
The Region 3A Cross Country Meet will be held in Canton on Thursday, Oct. 12. The State Meet will be held in Huron on Saturday, Oct. 21.
