On Saturday, Jan. 10 the Lennox High School boys’ basketball team hosted Groton and despite coming out strong the Orioles suffered the 57-48 loss. The game was tied at 32 all but in the final minutes, Lennox was outscored 25-16.
“We are in the process of working on putting together a full basketball game without any lapses throughout the game. Groton is a basketball team that returned every starter from a state tournament team last year and we knew it was going to be a test,” said LHS head coach Jacob Hinker. “The boys are eager to continue to get better and make strides.”
Against Groton, Tate Gerdes led the way with 18 points. Aiden Hanssen scored 15 points for the Orioles while Teegan Musser and Cole Spieler each had six. Drake Mikkelsen finished with two and Eli Plank had one point in the loss.
The Orioles were scheduled to face off against Western Christian, IA on Tuesday, Jan. 13 and will be at home on Thursday, Jan. 15 when they host Vermillion in double header action with the LHS girls. The boys are scheduled to tip-off at approximately 8 p.m.
