On Friday, Feb. 13 the Lennox High School boys’ basketball team traveled to the University of South Dakota to take on Pine Ridge.

Lennox came out strong and never looked back, getting the 58-28 victory.

“This was as good of a game as the boys have played defensively all season. They were locked in at practice all week leading up to this and were sharp from the jump to make sure we made things tough on Pine Ridge,” said LHS head coach Jacob Hinker. “The balance in scoring that we had on the offensive end was another positive to take away from the game. When there is balance like that on the offensive end, we are very hard to guard.”

For the Orioles, Teegan Musser, Tate Gerdes, Cole Spieler, and Aiden Hanssen were all in double figures. Musser went six of eight from the field to finish with 13 points. Gerdes had 12 points. Spieler, who hit two three pointers in the game, finished with ten and Hanssen had 11.

Drake Mikkelsen went four of four from the field to score eight points. Ejijah Johnson and Eli Plank each had two points.

Leading the team in rebounds was Gerdes with nine. Hanssen pulled down eight and Brennen Jufffer grabbed four. Hanssen led the team in assists with seven. Gerdes had five. Hanssen and Gerdes each had four steals in the match-up. Spieler had two.

The Orioles will host Tri-Valley on Thursday, Feb. 19 in double header action with the LHS girls. The boys are set to tip-off at 8 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 20 the Orioles will travel to Dell Rapids for a 7:15 p.m. game.

The team wraps up their regular season with a home game against Dakota Valley on Friday, Feb. 27. Playoff action is set to begin on March 3.
