On Monday, Dec. 19 the Lennox High School boys’ basketball defeated Canton, 55-51.

The night was highlighted by the team’s first dunk of the season as Porter Ihnen slammed one down against the C-Hawks.

Defensively, the Orioles were strong gas well.

“We came out aggressive by only allowing 17 first-half points on defense,” said LHS head coach Chris Buckmiller. “I thought Braeden Wulf and Trey Gerdes did an incredible job at setting the tone by establishing themselves on the defensive end against Canton’s best player.”

Offensively, Lennox was led by Ihnen and Jaxon Plank. Ihnen finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal. Plank had 16 points on the night, pulled down four rebounds, had five assists and led the team with a staggering seven steals.

“Jaxon Plank has had an incredible start to the early season,” said Buckmiller. “His ability to get to the rim and cause chaos on defense allows our team to play the high-tempo basketball we like to play.”

Conner Eich finished the game with eight points, three rebounds, and two steals. Tate Gerdes added five points, and had one assist and one steal. Layton Smith and Braxton Musser had three points each. Smith grabbed one rebound and Musser pulled down five rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Wulf had two points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

The Orioles are scheduled to play back-to-back games on Thursday, Dec. 29 and Friday, Dec. 30 against Waconia, MN on Thursday at the Pentagon and in Madison on Friday.

“They will be two tough games for us as we close out 2022,” said Buckmiller.
