Lennox High School track and field athletes competed in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on May 3-4 in Sioux Falls.
Bergan Musser made her mark, placing sixth among the top runners in the state among all classes with her time of 12.30 seconds in the event, setting a new school record in the event. Musser also teamed up with Tori Gerdes, Karlie Bosma, and Jayla DeCou to set a new school record in the 4x200 meter relays with their time of 1:47.02. This placed them third at the Dakota Relays.
The same foursome teamed up for the 4x400 meter relay, placing third with their season best time of 4:08.29.
Also placing at Howard Wood was Dani Highum in the javelin throw, throwing a personal best of 117’4” to take eighth in the event. Addison Martz also competed for Lennox.
The girls’ 4x800 meter relay team of Kensie Bosma, Karlie Bosma, Adie McVey and Kelsey Schmidt had a fantastic showing at Howard Wood as well, recording a season’s best in the 4x800 meter relay to earn runner up honors in the event with a time of 9:42.79.
The boys’ 4x800 meter relay team of Cade Sherard, Noah Sayler, Chett Jibben, and Cloy McVey took sixth with their time of 8:16.75.
The boys’ 4x400 meter relay team of Drake Mikkelsen, Cloy McVey, Noah Sayler and Cade Sherard took fifth with a time of 3:33.95. The 4x200 meter relay team of Ethan Larson, Jaxson Bittner, Boston Katzer, and Mikkelsen placed seventh with a time of 1:33.55.
Also competing at Howard Wood for Lennox were Tori Gerdes in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles; Cade Sherard and Drake Mikkelsen in the open 400; Karlie Bosma and Jayla DeCou in the open 400; Kelsey Schmidt in the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run; Adie McVey in the 3200 meter run; Addison Martz in the discus throw; and Teegan Musser in the high jump.
The LHS track and field team is schedule to travel to West Central on Thursday, May 9 with a home track meet being rescheduled to Monday, May 13 in Lennox. Regions are slated for May 16 at Elk Point.
