Lennox Speech and Debate has two strong weekends

This past weekend, the Lennox Speech and Debate team competed at Sioux Falls Roosevelt in the Sweetstakes tournament. The team had a strong showing, being the top “A” school at the meet in overall sweepstakes. Leading the team was Zach Boysen with his third place finish in JV Lincoln-Douglas debate. Also with a strong showing were Maddigan Van Sickle and Maddix Oltmanns with a 3-3 record. 

The Lennox Speech and Debate team competed at the Sioux Falls Jefferson Cavalier Invite on January 30 and 31. The team took first place in the class “A” sweepstakes with a total score of 175 points earned. Strong performances were given by all the students competing. Emersen Lee and Maddigan Van Sickle finished as Octo-finalists in varsity public forum. Darek Krohn finished as a semi-finalist in JV Lincoln-Douglas debate. Other students with strong performances in their events included Gavin Swier, Ainsley Calhoon, Noah Sitter, Maddix Oltmanns, and Zach Boysen. 

The team is quickly approaching the end of the season with its last regular season meet at Harrisburg this upcoming weekend. After that they will have their National Qualifier followed by the state tournament that will be in Aberdeen.
