Lennox School District Picture Day to be held Aug. 4: Parent/teacher conferences and open house set

The Lennox School District is preparing to welcome students back for the 2026-27 school year with district-wide picture day, registration reminders, parent-teacher conferences and open house events throughout August.

District officials are encouraging families to carefully review the district’s online registration information before school begins. Registration can be done by logging into the Parent Portal. If you experience any log in issues email angela.smit@k12.sd.us.

District-wide School Picture Day will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 2-7 p.m. at Lennox Elementary School. Students in all grade levels are encouraged to attend to have their school photos taken. Students who are unable to attend will have an opportunity for picture retakes on Sept. 17. Ordering school pictures is optional and can be done online through the link emailed to parents. All students should have their photo taken for school records even if not ordering. 

Families attending Picture Day will also be able to learn their child’s teacher, as class lists will be posted inside Lennox Elementary School. Parents can also verify student registration information and pay school fees online. 

District officials note that families must complete the required 2026-27 Annual Campus Verification through Parent Portal before they will be able to access other Parent Portal information for the new school year.

Elementary and Intermediate parent-teacher conferences will replace the traditional elementary open house this year. Conferences will be held Friday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon and Monday, Aug. 24, from 1-4 p.m. Families will receive a SignUpGenius link by email to schedule one 10-minute conference for each student. Conference sign-up opens Aug. 4 after teacher assignments are announced.

The Junior High/High School Open House will still be held Monday, Aug. 24, from 5-7 p.m., giving students and families an opportunity to meet teachers, tour the school, locate classrooms and prepare for the upcoming year.

The district is also reminding families of several important back-to-school deadlines. New transportation requests must be submitted by Aug. 10, while families using the Lennox Community Bus must register by Aug. 12. 

School bus drivers will contact families with pickup and drop-off information between Aug. 17-21.

Students participating in school activities can begin purchasing activity passes and tickets through Bound on Aug. 1. The district also noted that, beginning this year, all student physicals must be uploaded electronically through the Bound app, and paper copies will no longer be accepted.

The first day of school for students in the Lennox School District is Tuesday, Aug. 25.
