Lennox school board recognizes student for academic achievement

The Lennox School Board met Jan. 12 and recognized a student for his academic achievement.

Junior high and high school principal Chad Allison recognized freshman Kameron Karlson for his perfect score on the science assessment in spring 2025. He was one of 17 in his grade level across the state to post a perfect score.

In his report, superintendent Adam Shaw mentioned a possible bill, which is supports, that students who are on reduced lunch get free lunch. He expects it will be a contentious legislative session with property tax, data center and education discussions.

The board approved the worker’s compensation coverage for Connor Sherard. They also approved the pay increase for Nichole Eickstadt, Totally Kids site coordinator, after she completed multiple trainings.

They approved the fiscal year 2027 Sunshine Preschool fee structure of $35 for the family registration fee and monthly rates of $200 for 4.5-day preschool and $105 for 2.5-day preschool.

The board approved the change order from Architecture Incorporated for the high school addition. 

The total additional charges was $26,369 for relocating some water lines, adding fire alarms, adding electric light bollards, parking lot soil correction, paint and electric rough-ins and a credit for not replacing damaged asphalt paving.

They reviewed the classified staff resignations of Quinn McDonald as a preschool assistant and Rylee Eickstadt as Totally Kids Site Coordinator in Worthing.

Shaw and board member Nick Butler met with the city about a school resource officer. They plan to pursue a grant to try to get an SRO.

The board spent an hour and 13 minutes in executive session for preparing for contract negotiations and discussing the qualifications, competence, performance, character or fitness of any public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee.
